St Mark's Campanile is the bell tower of St Mark's Basilica. At 98.6 metres (323 ft) in height, it is the tallest structure in Venice and is colloquially termed "el paròn de casa" (the master of the house). It is one of the most recognizable symbols of the city. It is one of the few structures in Life After People that have an official concept and production before being scrapped.

Coverage[]

Although it wasn't seen in the series, St. Mark's Campanile only appears in a Life After People commercial in Italy. While the timeline is unknown, the details and features allow for analysis on the fate of the structures.

Rising sea levels and annual flooding of Venice will caused the entire city to flood and becoming underwater. On the plaza, St. Mark's Campanile begins to lean caused by floodwaters which weakens the base of the tower. As the tower leans, the spire of St. Mark's Campanile buckles and falls due to the changing course of gravity. While the tower remains, it is presume that St. Marks Campanile will succumb from leaning.

Trivia[]

  • Along with Leaning Tower of Pisa, Florence Cathedral, Palazzo Ducale, and Valle dei Templi. St. Mark's Campanile was seen in a commercial for Life After People in Italy, but was never actually featured.
  • St. Mark's Campanile, along with Florence Catheral, are the only structures featured in the Italian Commercial to not have any public released official concept art.
